I always wondered why math [tag]teachers[/tag] didn’t use examples like Mighty Bargain Hunter’s actual plasma TV cost example when they got the inevitable ‘Why do I need to know this? I’m never going to use this in the real world…‘ comments (it wasn’t just me being a PITA teenager, was it?).
Then it dawned on me. Obviously, most elementary/high school teachers must have a pretty weak grasp of financial concepts like cost-benefit analysis, or they never would have taken on a career requiring four+ years of expensive [tag]education[/tag] – likely heavily financed with [tag]student loans[/tag] – that pays as poorly as it does.
