Still Paying Bank Fees?

by Sean

It’s been so long since I’ve payed a bank fee just to have an account (the tiny little local no-name bank I use for my checking actually likes it’s customers), I didn’t realize that they were still the norm. Apparently, [tag]Bank of America[/tag] just notified customers that if they have less than $2,500 in their accounts (likely the majority of their customers) , expect to pay a $10 per month service charge. Apparently, record earnings just aren’t good enough for them; they just have to find some additional ways to screw over their customers.

Oh, and if you’ve forgotten, Bank of America recently completed it’s merger with [tag]MBNA[/tag]. As you may recall, MBNA [tag]sucks[/tag]. As, apparently, does Bank of America…

I’ve never paid a bank fee before and never plan to pay one. Bank make a lot of money of bank fees and they try to penalize people any way they can.

If you can, join a local credit union. They are so much better than banks.

Most of banks does charge a monthly fee if your acct balance falls below a set amount, for your case it is $2500 (sounds like former FleetONE checking account if you have acct linkage). Bank Of America does have free checking acct if you have direct deposit. Which I don’t see why not. For Bank of America I think their regular checking account is you get charge a monthly fee if your acct balance falls below $1000, again depends on which type of checking account you have. Which I suggest better do some research about your acct first instead of just complaint when you hear the so call bad news.
But you are right, MBNA sucks, that is why I hardly use their credit card and call them up. Only use their card as a back up.
