Little Expenses Add Up

by Sean

Was just reading up on the progress of the couple at Financial Train Wreck and their progress on quitting [tag]smoking[/tag]. To those of you who aren’t smokers, you really have no idea how ingrained the damn things become in your life, so first off, excellent job, both of you! I [tag]quit[/tag] the damn things a year+ ago (‘1 year, 2 months, 3 weeks, and 2 day ago‘ according to SilkQuit; also, ‘11174 not smoked‘ – unreal number!). They creep into my mind now and then, but at least they haven’t crept back in my pocket.

Since we’re talking about money here on this site, [tag]SilkQuit[/tag] claims I’ve also not spent $2,374.50 slowly killing myself. Doesn’t take long for a few dollars a day to add up quickly into a few thousand!

Congrats to you as well – 23 days and counting, it seems. By now the nicotine habit is long gone; now it’s all psychology.

It looks like you went the cold turkey route. Better man than I! Me, I tried that way a couple times, and would do really well for a few days – then, I’d start fantasizing about running down those people who, say, neglect to turn on their turn signals in front of me… ;)
