Gas Pains?

by Sean

Call me callous, but I have very little sympathy for the vast majority of people who are complaining about [tag]gas prices[/tag].

Yes, yes, I know – I’ve mentioned this before. Allow me to continue venting.

I’ve had four clients in the last couple days commuting 50+ miles one way daily from their little exurbs, driving all alone in their huge gas guzzling Suburban/Expedition/Hummer (I had a client just leave complaining about gas prices driving in with his new Hummer H1), looking for sympathy on their [tag]gas[/tag] costs.

It took a herculean effort to not roll my eyes. Life is full of choices. You made your bed… now sleep in it.

  • I agree entirely. Part of why gas prices are so high is due to supply/demand. Gas guzzling SUVs are one of the reasons for the recent increase in demand for fuel, therefore everyone else has to pay more for our gas since all of these Hummers are sucking up more fuel than every other car on the road.

If you've got enough money to spend $50,000+ on your behemoth SUV, you have NO RIGHTS to complain about paying 25% more for fuel. If it's that big of an issue, sell your Hummer and buy a Prius. Otherwise, quit whining.
