Time yet again for the almost monthly report on the state of the debt. Raw numbers first, followed by a little explainin’:

  May 2′07 June 1′07 Change
EVERYTHING We Owe
Credit Card Debts
Chase $19,319.16 $18,936.70 ($382.46)
Other Debts
Home Mortgage 39,270.89 39,217.94 (52.95)
Low Energy Loan 16,236.76 16,119.72 (117.04)
Line of Credit 32,144.19 32,742.76 598.57
TOTAL Liabilities $106,971.00 $107,017.12 $46.12

Now, I know what you’re thinking. You’re saying to yourself:

Hey, Sean, isn’t the point of this exercise to make the debt smaller? This is the second month in a row that the total continues in the wrong direction.

You’d think so, wouldn’t you? ;) Alas, this month shares a similar story to the last, in that the raw numbers don’t quite tell the complete story. Yet another good sized bill showed up this month. The actual paydown, if my calculations are correct — and they are — is $1,864 and change. So even though the total isn’t moving much, we’re still on track to meet my debt payoff goal for the year (in fact, all of those goals sans one are going swimmingly, but that’s another story altogether).

Which leaves just one outstanding bill. I won’t harass the holder of that bill too much, as apparently they aren’t missing my money yet. And I’m certainly not missing tacking their’s on to the (interest expense building) total… ;)

In other, related news, our gifted property was put up for sale a short time ago. The agent we listed it with warned us that property in it’s particular neck of the wood hasn’t exactly been flying off the shelves, so I’m not expecting it to be off our hands in the extreme immediate future. But I am hoping to not be waiting a year on it, because the infusion from that sale would certainly knock out a healthy chunk of this total!

[...] While I appreciate the accolade, I’m not sure if we deserve to be called inspirational quite yet. After all, we’ve went a little off track on the debt end of things. I started the site in early ‘05 with $21k in debt; as of this month, we’re sitting on 107k worth. [...]
