Are They Really This Dumb in Dallas?

As I said earlier this year, one of my goals for the year was to find a few new sources of secondary income. One of the paths I’ve taken to meet that goal has me flirting with the domaining business (yes, that’s an affiliate link, and yes, the info is worth every red cent). I’m no Kevin Ham or anything [yet ;) ], but I’m slowly and steadily building my virtual real estate empire. It’s always interesting to browse through what some are willing to pay for a domain name and get a little inspiration.

In catching up with the news from the latest auctions, I just had to shake my head at America’s Team and their utter ineptitude in fumbling the auction of a great piece of VRE: Cowboys.com. Thinking they were going to get a prime domain like Cowboys.com for $275 rather than a more realistic $275,000 (but still insanely cheap — if that were a domain in my stable, I’d be looking for another zero to be tacked on) is cluelessness on a grand scale. Pleading poverty certainly won’t work. After all, they are spending in excess of a billion on their new stadium. The $275k would barely be a rounding error.

Moron of the Year, indeed…

State of the Debt September ‘07

Debt is like any other trap, easy enough to get into, but hard enough to get out of.
- Henry Wheeler Shaw

It seems that certain months are almost painful in review. September appears to be one:

  August 31′07 Sept 30′07 Change
EVERYTHING We Owe
Credit Card Debts
Chase $21,561.53 $21,188.81 ($372.72)
Other Debts
Home Mortgage 39,057.58 39,002.00 (55.58)
Low Energy Loan 15,765.62 15,646.59 (119.03)
Line of Credit 27,261.30 27,238.11 (23.19)
TOTAL Liabilities $103,646.03 $103,075.51 ($570.52)

It certainly felt like we threw a not unsubstantial chunk at the debt, but only gained just over a half percent on the total. Ah, well, progress is progress is progress.

for those of you infrequently blogging like myself, you should probably occasionally check in on your site. I thought I had set this brief post to published somewhere around the beginning of the month, but apparently only saved it.]
